Dr. LaForest

Jessica LaForest, MD

I am a PROUD Michigander born and raised, growing up in the lovely small town of Whitmore Lake, graduating in 1998. Even at a very young age, I knew that medicine was my passion! I attended Eastern Michigan University, obtaining my bachelor’s degree in biology, with Honors Degrees in Biology and General studies in 2002. I then attended Wayne State University School of Medicine, graduating with my medical degree in 2006. I completed my residency training at The University of Cincinnati Obstetrics and Gynecology program in 2010.

After graduation, I returned to Michigan to start my practice and to be closer to my very large extended family. I began practicing at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, where I practiced from 2010 until 2021. There I grew a large practice delivering many precious babies and providing women’s
healthcare to Shiawassee County and surrounding areas. I also served as Chairwoman of the OB/GYN department for 5 years. participated in medical student and advanced practice provider education from many surrounding universities. Teaching the next generation of providers quickly became a large source of personal joy and satisfaction while working in Owosso. I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to join the teaching staff at Ascension
Genesys Hospital for the OB/GYN residency program.

I practice the full spectrum of Obstetrics and Gynecology; from low risk to complex pregnancies, general female preventative care including annual exams, cancer screening and prevention, and birth control options. Abnormal vaginal bleeding, vulvar disease, menopausal and sexual health issues, and perform advanced surgical procedures including hysterectomy, endometriosis diagnosis and treatment, pelvic pain evaluations, uterine fibroids and pelvic
organ prolapse surgeries. I have a special interest and expertise in minimally invasive surgery with a practice centered around Robotic and Laparoscopic surgical procedures.

Pelvic pain disorders, especially endometriosis and pelvic floor dysfunction, are also a great passions of mine. Helping women regain a functional lifestyle is a large focus of my practice. I am also certified in a minimally invasive treatment option to treat fibroid tumors of the uterus
without removal or hysterectomy called the Acessa Procedure.

I absolutely LOVE what I do! I first fell in love with OB/GYN at the age of 16, while watching my first delivery with a previous mentor… it was the MOST INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE and became my focus in life from then on. Since the beginning of my practice in 2010, I have learned that
the relationship made with my patients in this field are unlike any others in medicine… an honor I cherish and respect.

I still reside in Owosso with the love of my life and our wonderful son. They are my WORLD, and we enjoy going on many family adventures and look forward to so many more years of them!!. I am so looking forward to embarking on this next chapter of practice for my established patients and many new patients to come with Flint OB/GYN!
