Jessica LaForest, MD
I was born in lovely Ann Arbor, Michigan (GO BLUE!!). I was raised in nearby Whitmore Lake, graduating in 1998. I knew even at a very young age that medicine was my passion! I attended Eastern Michigan University, obtaining degrees in Biology and Chemistry with Honors Degrees in Biology and General studies in 2002. I attended Wayne State University School of Medicine graduating with my medical degree in 2006. I was then accepted into the University of Cincinnati Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency program, completing my training in 2010. After graduation, I returned to Michigan to start my practice and be closer to my very large extended family.
I began practicing at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, where I practiced from 2010 until 2021. There I served as Chairwoman of the OB/GYN department for 5 years. I also participated in medical student and advanced practice provider education, proctoring many students from surrounding universities.
I absolutely LOVE what I do! I first fell in love with OB/GYN at the age of 16, while watching my first delivery with a previous mentor… it was the MOST INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE and became my focus in life from then on. Over the last 12 years of practice, I have learned that the relationship made with my patients in this field are unlike any others in medicine… an honor I cherish and respect.
I practice the full spectrum of Obstetrics and Gynecology; from simple and complex pregnancies to annual exams, cancer screening and prevention, birth control options, abnormal vaginal bleeding, menopause issues, and advanced surgical procedures including hysterectomy and pelvic organ prolapse surgeries. I have a special interest and expertise in minimally invasive surgery with a practice centered around Robotic Surgical Procedures and Laparoscopic procedures.
Pelvic pain disorders, especially endometriosis, are also a great passion of mine. Helping women regain a functional lifestyle is a large focus of my practice. I am also certified in a minimally invasive treatment option to treat fibroid tumors of the uterus without removal or hysterectomy called the Acessa Procedure.
I still reside in Owosso with the love of my life and our wonderful son. They are my WORLD, and we enjoy our family adventures. I am so looking forward to embarking on this next chapter of practice for my established patients and many new patients to come with Flint OB/GYN!
