Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery utilizes the da Vinci® Surgical System to execute complex surgeries while making minimal cuts which means smaller scars, faster rates of recovery, reduced blood loss and infection rates, and best of all less postoperative pain.

Traditionally patients would be cut-open to perform any surgery. This would result in large scars and many days in the hospital. Our practice makes open surgery almost obsolete and leads Genesee County in non-open surgical volume.

There is another method of minimally invasive surgery which is even more minimal – robotic or laparoscopic surgery. With this technology a physician is able to utilize a single hole in your body (either an incision or the uterus) to open a myriad of cameras and surgical tools like a hand through the sleeve of a jacket.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Patients having laparoscopic surgery will have a small incision around or inside the belly button, and may have other small incisions beneath the belly button. These small incisions allow a camera and special instruments into the abdomen, granting the surgeon the ability to carry out surgery. It is often used to perform:

Hysteroscopic Surgery
